Chicken Store

Our boutique page actually had a lot of visitors and was fun. But, since we are out on something that approaches a farm, we converted it into a farm store, featuring chicken supplies in case you have chickens. If you have a big stupid dog, like we do, we can probably help on that later on.

We’re pretty sure that if you buy everything on this list, and then get some chickens, you will be a chicken farmer. We will even send you a little certificate that says so.

Vintage RV Parts and Accessories

Hey did you know we are finally getting to the project of rehabbing this old vintage Shasta RV? Here is the story. Once upon a time someone cooked up the zany scheme to get an old camper and glamp it up, since we have all of this spare time on our hands. Airstreams are too expensive, so we did the 1958 Shasta. You’ll have to drive by to check it out.

Well here are some of the actual parts we’re ordering. Here are the lights for the interior (12 should be plenty).

Here is the simple on-off switch for the modest bathroom. We need one of these.

Here is the dimmable switch that we can use for the less modest galley and the luxurious bedroom. We’re going to need two of these, one for the front and one for the back.

While we’re having all the fun, let’s put in a new, modern connector so that we can connect to the campground spigot. Here it is. We need one of these.

We need a way to get electricity from the long extension cord that runs from the house into the 30-amp connector that connects to the 30-amp campground style outlet that we are going to use and this thing looks like a winner. We need one of these.

Breakfast Station

We’re thinking about this nostalgia breakfast station, rather than one of those indoor RV stoves with the propane. It’ll be easier to install, but use more electricity. When we’re off grid we’ll just fire up the old gas grill somewhere.

Here’s the brain of the electrical system this thing is supposedly smart enough that it’ll not overcharge the batteries and also have a fan to keep itself cool, since that is important

Unfortunately the fuses don’t come with it but that is not terrible. We should be able to wire the whole thing up through this little thing which we will keep in some kind of easily accessible place.

Aside from this all we need is a few blue boxes and outlets for our 110 and we are in business.

There are several types of these and this is the thriftier one. This has room for one main breaker plus five separate side breakers with which we can power our fridge, stuff in the bedroom, twinkle lights, air conditioner and one around the kitchen with a GFCI circuit so that we don’t injure anybody.

We’ll take pictures when we get to that point.

New: Mustang Accessories

Everybody knows that the Mustang is the greatest car ever, but why should Mustang Accessories be offered in the Chicken Store? Well there is a connection, trust us.

Here are some accessories for the Mustang Lover in your life. We can see why you would want a T-shirt and a key fob will definitely come in handy. Mystery of the day? Why would someone need a ball joint replacement? And, if you had only one bad one, why would you buy two?

Adirondack Chairs

We love the Adirondack Chairs at our place, so much that we want to get a few new ones, just because we can. Actually we might try to paint these and upgrade our current supply. We’ll let you know how it works out. The assembly instructions are nearly comical on this one but we have an underlying plan.

Colorful Boots

Step one of starting your Chicken Empire is a pair of these colorful chicken boots. These are also perfect for going into our little downtown bubble, and stopping in for a nice coffee somewhere.

PS The person in your life that enjoys low risers can also find some by clicking the link below.

Chicken Attire

You really, really need a T-shirt to wear to Wal Mart on Saturday morning. Here are a couple of funny ones for your shopping pleasure

Chicken Hat

Chicken Tractor Gear

We’re using this to capture the things we’re buying for our chicken tractor. Here are some nice big wheels that should be easy enough to roll

We used a hinge like this to hold the doors on. We’re still in the process of deciding where the doors need to be, but if you’re us, that’s okay.

Poultry Feeders

Do you remember Auntie Em, walking around and throwing her scratch grain on the ground with a flock of chickens running after her? Well, no one does that anymore. You need a chicken feeder like this one. Ours is actually like the red one below.

Watering Systems

Here’s how it works: You get a lot of these little nipples and put them into a PVC pipe, and hook it up to the bucket of water of your choice. This keeps your chickens hydrated, which we all know is important because eggs are mostly water.

To tell the honest truth, we’re unlikely to spend $54 on a chicken waterer, but this is an actual farm. The more likely scenario is a kiddie swimming pool that gets filled up occasinoally. But, we can see where you would want one like that if you want to impress the neighbors.

Chicken Wire

When we fabricated our chicken coop we actually used some of the garden netting for the top of it. It keeps the chicken hawks and buzzards out of the coop, and is easy to clean the leaves and branches off the top of it when it accumulates.

Chicken Feed

We generally get our chickens past the point of chick starter, but if you are in such a place as to want or need to order some organic chick starter from somewhere, we hope you do so. Hey, did you know you can usually get chicken feed from a local dealer? It’s true, and fun to go there from time to time.

Chicken Books

Since we haven’t written a chicken book (yet) here are a couple to choose from. We sort of like the first one because when you tour people around your chickens, you will be able to explain stuff to them.

This one also looks like fun. Support your local self-published author, until we can write our own.

Do we need to embed a few chicken videos, so you can experience these lovely creatures? I can see that we do.

Winemaking Accessories

We only make wine occasionally, and we would never consider it for anything other than personal use and enjoyment, and we aren’t allowed to sell it. But, if you want to order a wine kit from the Chicken Store you should by all means do so.

We’re planning yet another blog post on how we did this.

Soap Making Supplies

Yes, we’re exploring the possibility of soap making here at the Firefly. For the moment, here are some of the ingredients we are using to make our Cold Process Soap
